I am a Product Design major at San Francisco State University. I am on track to earn my Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design with a concentration in Product Design and Development.

I am wowed by the timeless architecture and design of the 50’s that still remains relevant and modern today.

I am inspired by everyday situations that pose interesting or unique problems and change the way we look at our surroundings. I like the feeling of a new discovery or respect with objects that we use every day.

I am influenced by my friends, colleagues, and professors. I look up to anyone who is willing to take creative risks and submit themselves to public critique. I recently watched Objectified and want to buy a Banzai tree to be more like Dieter Rams.

I am thoughtful, hopeful, patient, resourceful, indecisive, and restless.

Panel of Experts

Text

I spoke today with Janate (That’s the name on my receipt at least! I’m new at this, don’t judge me!) at Cafe Rosso to set up a time to meet and discuss the inventory and customer behaviors at her cafe. Hopefully I’ll get some numbers to help me determine how much waste students, staff, and faculty produce as a result of drinking coffee at Cafe Rosso. This should be a figure that I can use to roughly determine campus wide waste. I plan to spend some time this week around 8 am watching people buying coffee.

I emailed two other resources who I hope to use as my panel of experts. I’ll wait to hear from them before making any update here.

I’m finding more information about sustainable materials and consumer culture. I’d recommend everyone read Cradle to Cradle by William McDonough & Michael Braungart. Even if you don’t read it - find it in a bookstore and pick it up. The book is completely waterproof.

Trying to keep the ball rolling on this thing! We’re already almost halfway there…
